Episode 9

The Boy from the North

Horohoro's introductory episode. I saw the dub version but not the original. But I do know that A LOT of stuff was cut out or dubbed over (for brief nudity). Even though Horohoro is my most favorite character, the love had to be developed over time. When I first saw him I was like "oooook, that guy is WIERD!" But I overcame that and started to enjoy the character very much. 

When Horohoro introduces himself when they get back to Funbari Inn, Horo comments that he sure ate lot, then farts. Everyone comments on "poisonous gas" and asks what happened to Yoh (he passed out apparently), then says that he (Yoh) did not run in time. Horo asks to use the bathroom and Ryu says to Yoh "Master. Master...master. Do you smell something about him?" Yoh: "Yeah, I saw the great spiritual realm. Uh? his fart stinks?" Ryu: "I'm saying he's suspicious! A traveler in this day and age." 

Apparently Horo come screaming out of the bathroom (with no pants on. There's your brief nudity. The dub put some digital undies on him) because Tamegoro-san, the ghost that lives in the toilet, popped up and asked if food was ready yet. Everyone is suprised that Horo can see spirits.

After the bathroom scene is over, Horo apologizes for the lack of formality and introduces himself as Horohoro. Yoh comments that Horohoro is a funny name then goes on to say that if you add dots it will be Boroboro*. The dub has Horo introduce himself as Horohoro, but then goes on to say that he prefers the name "Trey Racer". *gag*

*Note: the dots on some characters change the sound. "ho" with dots is "bo". Yoh & others often make fun of Horohoro's name by calling him Boroboro. Boroboro means "sleazy, crappy, old, worn-out, ect."

Now everyone (especially Yoh) starts calling Horo Boroboro. Manta say's to stop because "it'll be bad if you laugh." When Horo sees Manta, he runs, hugs him (I don't know all that he did) and calls Manta Kororo and asks where he (she) had been, where did he (she) go, and that he (Horo) was so lonely. Manta does not have a clue what he is talking about and Horo apologizes and says that Manta looks like someone he knows and his habit took over. The dub has Horo say that Manta looked like "someone from home".
